How Do You Clean A Filter On A Mercury 2 Storke Boat Motor

  • #1

I was request for some assistance on a problem in another thread and someone suggested I cheque the fuel filter, so I proceeded to do that but tin can't notice it. I figured it would be around the bulb somewhere, but that just comes from a hole in the hull upward to the motor. My fuel tank is down in the hull so I have to take autonomously some admission panels to encounter it. Is the fuel filter inside the motor casing, or somewhere in the hull?

Thanks.

Re: Mercury 115HP '93 2 stroke - Where is the fuel filter?

OK, nonetheless haven't located a fuel filter on my boat. I take at present traced the line from the gas tank in the hull upwards to the bulb and to the motor... no filter in that line. Then hither is what I meet where the line comes into the motor. Is that angled square looking thing with "in" and "out" on it a filter? I'm guessing that's the fuel pump, non the filter.

Here is a larger moving picture of the motor and I don't see annihilation that looks similar a filter except that white canister style up peak but its no where near where the fuel line comes into the motor. There has to be a filter hither somewhere, right?

It is that big white cylindrical object in the second pic. I retrieve in that location's another small one on the other side of the motor. You have to remove the oil tank to run into it. It goes on the line from the accelerator pump to the lower cylinder check valves.

BTW, that's a clean looking engine you have there. I wish mine looked as good.

Re: Mercury 115HP '93 two stroke - Where is the fuel filter?

Thank you for the quick respond... so the white cylinder it is. It has what looks like heavy duty nada strips on the two tubes. Practise I just clip those and replace them with metal clamps when I supercede the filter? They wait like something that might accept been put on at the manufacturing plant, but I can't believe that filter has been on there for 17 years.

Yes, the motor is so clean you can practically eat off of information technology. Amazing for a '93, but the whole boat is pretty clean besides. I think it spent most of its life in a garage, but its getting enough employ at present.

I'm just trying to larn my manner around this thing without messing annihilation up. This forum has been an astonishing resource.

Should I install a split fuel filter between the seedling and the tank, or is that not necessary?
